Samuel L. Jackson Golf Clause

Samuel L. Jackson Golf Clause, Samuel L. Jackson really loves to golf. Though he’s one of the most esteemed actors of his generation, Jackson loves golf so much that he makes sure to have a golf clause written into his contracts so he can play even while he’s on set. “They have to let me play at least twice a week,” he tells CNN’s Living Golf. “Generally they either move me onto a golf course or I join a club so I can play there.”

That’s some dedication to his craft. The 64-year-old movie star plays with a six-handicap and has played at such esteemed courses as Pebble Beach and St. Andrews. He’s golfed with fellow celebrities like Clint Eastwood, Kenny G and Don Cheadle, but the time he geeked out the most was when he played against Tiger Woods.

“The first time I played St. Andrews [in Scotland] I actually played with Tiger,” Jackson said. “That’s kind of a big deal. … The first time I met him I played with him at the Dunhill (Championship) and I think his advice to me was ‘Follow me’ — and I actually did. I didn’t hit the ball as far as he did but I kind of hit the same balls.”

At least Jackson puts his love of golf in the right place. He holds an annual Shooting Stars charity fundraiser, and in 2013 donated the money to the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of his mother and other family members who had the disease.

Jackson also shares his advice to golf newbies. “The first thing is keep your head down,” he says. “That’s the hardest thing to do when you’re a beginner because you always want to see where the ball is going, so you always tend to look up before you swing. So keep your head down, swing easy — not hard — find a tempo that’s comfortable for you, and have fun. Don’t take it seriously.”
