‘Bear at door’: Canadian postman has fair excuse for failing to deliver parcel

‘Bear at door’: Canadian postman has fair excuse for failing to deliver parcel. A mail carrier in British Columbia, Canada, has been unable to deliver a package to a house – and it's all because of a bear on the prowl.

Matthew Fane, from a Vancouver suburb, tweeted Wednesday a photo of a note left for him by a Canada Post worker indicating that the reason he was unable to drop off a parcel was because there was a 'bear at door.'

A picture of the decent-sized black mammal has since surfaced to prove the claim, showing the grizzly scarily lurking out front of the house.

Abu Dhabi is set to build the world’s first underground park, Al Fayah Park, in the desert

Abu Dhabi is set to build the world’s first underground park, Al Fayah Park, in the desert. What happens when one of the richest countries in the world sits in the middle of a desert? They go underground.

The urban planners of Abu Dhabi asked London design studio, Heatherwick, to create a park that would provide some relief for its residents from the oppressing heat and as a place to wind down.

Spread over 1.3 million square feet, Al Fayah Park will look like a 65 foot high mound of earth from the outside. Using the natural landscape as inspiration, Heatherwick studied the surrounding desert to come up with their one of a kind design.

Waffle House Denies Waitress $1,000 Tip

Waffle House Denies Waitress $1,000 Tip. During a night shift on Mother's Day in North Carolina, the Waffle House waitress received an extraordinary tip from a humble benefactor. The man, who has not been named, wanted to leave $1,000 for Brown, and an additional $500 he wanted her to share with another customer in the Raleigh restaurant, local outlet The News & Observer reports.

So the benevolent patron wrote $1,500 on the tip line on his receipt before leaving. Brown was overjoyed to receive the gift, until she learned that it was not in Waffle House's policy to let her keep such a generous tip.

As Waffle House policy dictates, large tips charged on a credit card are automatically returned to the customer.

Woman frozen alive by hospital

Woman frozen alive by hospital. A California appeals court has revived a malpractice suit brought by the family of an 80-year-old grandmother they claim was prematurely declared dead by doctors then frozen alive inside a body bag in the hospital's morgue.

A lower-court judge had dismissed the lawsuit brought in May 2012 by relatives of Maria de Jesus Arroyo against White Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles over the woman's 2010 death, on grounds that the statute of limitations had lapsed.

But a three-judge panel of a state appeals court sided with the family on Wednesday in agreeing they could not have known how Arroyo was alleged to have died until it was brought to light by a pathologist in an expert opinion he gave in December 2011.

Teen tattoos McDonald’s receipt

Teen tattoos McDonald’s receipt. 18-year-old Stian Ytterdahl from Lørenskog got his McDonald's receipt tattooed on his forearm, Gawker reports. That’s right, his receipt.

The teen, who friends say is “a little too active” with the ladies, was he had to choose between two tattoos; 1. A Barbie tattoo on his buttocks or 2.A tattoo of his McDonald’s receipt on his forearm.

Hmm…tough choice. A Barbie tattoo, on my butt, where I can easily hide it so no one knows, or the receipt of what I ate today permanently inked on my forearm. A no-brainer, right?

The teen decided on the latter, and the tattoo parlour who inked Ytterdahl, Sabelink Tattoo, posted the above photo and caption to their Facebook page.
