Most sleep-deprived cities. A new study by The Daily Beast and Experian Simmons took a look at which cities in the U.S. are the most sleep-deprived.

The study looked at the percentage of the population that reported sleeplessness and the percentage that used medication to alleviate sleeplessness and found Charleston, West Virginia is the most sleep-deprived city with 10.2 percent experiencing insomnia in the last year.

Mount Vernon, Ill., Dayton, Ohio, Springfield, Mo. and Lexington, Ky. rounded out the top 5.

The study found that 7.1 percent of Cincinnatians experienced insomnia in the last year with 8.42 percent using pain relievers, 2 percent using non-prescription drugs and 3 percent using prescription drugs to alleviate sleeplessness, putting it at the 26th most sleep-deprived city in the U.S.

Youngstown, Ohio came in at 12th and Columbus, Ohio was rated the 19th most sleep-deprived city.
