Marcel Guillot, nicknamed “Grandfather Marcel”, was found guilty of murdering Nicole El Dib in 2011, then pushing her body into a stream, when she spurned him.
He denied killing her, saying El Dib slipped and fell, but admitted to police he was left humiliated by the woman, who he had a “crush on”, and that he went to her home to punish her.
“I wanted to know why she refused to see me ... I don’t understand, we were always good together. I did not hit her, she was my girlfriend,” he told the court.
