Man set girlfriend on fire in Swedish town

Man set girlfriend on fire in Swedish town. An argument over a home renovation in Sweden spiraled shockingly out of control when a man set his girlfriend, and the house they shared, on fire.

After a day’s redecorating the couple got into a fight about which tape to use while repainting the window frames at the house in Skåne.

The dispute turned violent however when the 42-year-old man doused the house and his girlfriend in petrol and set them both alight, Swedish news site The Local reported.

“It was like something from a horror movie,” the female victim reportedly told investigators.

She escaped by jumping head-first out of a window and running to a neighbour, who found her bleeding and badly burned.

The Local said the man had been drinking at the time of the incident and that he had become infuriated by his girlfriend’s nagging.

He reportedly told police: "She complained about absolutely everything, how I painted, how I cleaned…Things got stressful.”

The man was found guilty of arson and attempted murder and sentenced to eight years in prison. He was also ordered to pay compensation to the woman.
