David Beckham Tom Cruise acting career, Tom Cruise has reportedly expressed hopes of turning David Beckham into a movie star.

The Oblivion actor and close friend of David is said to have spoken to the footballer about his next career move, following his recent retirement from football.

A source told the Daily Star: “David has always wanted to be a leading man in action films and Tom promised him a long time ago he could make those dreams come true.

“And now that Becks has called time on football, he is ready for his friend to make good on his promise.

“David feels that now is the time to transition into films while he’s still young enough to land the top-notch roles.”

Tom Cruise became good friends with David after his move to Los Angeles several years ago, while Victoria Beckham befriended Cruise’s now-ex-wife Katie Holmes.

The source added; “David still keeps in touch with Tom and believes he’ll stand by his promise to help him become a star.”

David was apparently offered a private jet by Tom Cruise in order for him to travel from London to Paris during his time at Paris Saint-Germain.

Speaking about their friendship last year, David said: ”Do I ride my bikes with Tom? Yeah I do. Have we become good friends over the years? Yes, we have become very good friends.

“It’s not a big celebrity thing. It’s just something that happened. And it’s good to have friends like that.

”He’s a really good person. Tom is one of the hardest-working people I know. He never stops. He’s a great dad and he’s got a great family behind him.”
