Cantaloupe Melons Sell For £10,000

Cantaloupe Melons Sell For £10,000, Two cantaloupe melons have sold for 1.4 million Yen (£10,385) in a Japanese auction.

The Yubari melons are considered a status symbol in Japan and buyers will present them as gifts to friends and colleagues.

They were bought by a fruit wholesaler on the first day of the auction.
