Denver Police Lt. Matt Murray said authorities weren't actively looking for possible suspects in the shooting.
"It appears to be an isolated incident. We are talking to people, we are now talking to witnesses, but we have no indication that there is a shooter out there on the loose in Denver," Murray told reporters.
The deaths may be part of a murder-suicide involving a mother and her children, according to Fox affiliate KDVR.
“I would ask that we all keep those involved — those that are going to be faced with this horrible tragedy — in our thoughts,” Denver Police Chief Robert White said at the scene.
A neighbor, 21-year-old Rosalinda Bustillos, told the Denver Post that her father-in-law heard a gun go off around 5 a.m.
“Right after that a truck took off really fast,” Bustillos told the newspaper.
Another neighbor said the people who live in the home moved in about six months ago.
