Regarding being selected People Magazine’s 2011 Most Beautiful Woman, she said, “I loved that they didn’t pick somebody who was 21 years old. There are so many beautiful people in the world and it’s all relative. at the end of the day they chose to pick somebody in their 40s who was a mom who’s been in the business a long time.
On why she took so long to commit to coming back to American Idol for a second season, she said, “Last year was a tough year for me. Towards the end I got really tired. Live TV, honestly, I don’t know how you do it for so many hours every day. It was a whole new thing for me. By the end of it I was exhausted. I wasn’t just doing that. If I was just doing that it would have been easier; that coupled with everything else on my plate.
Regarding Marc Anthony whom she is divorcing — and with whom she is executive producer of “Q’Viva! The Chosen” a new reality TV talent show seeking hopefuls in Latin America premiering on Univision on Feb. 4, 2012 — she said, “Marc and I were friends before we got married for years. We always loved each other; we always worked together. It wasn’t an unnatural thing for us to continue working together. Obviously we have children together. So it’s not like he’s not going to be in my life. He always will be. I don’t know. It’s a passion project for us. It has difficult moments but it’s still a great thing we are doing and that we feel we are doing.”
Asked about statements she made in the Vanity Fair article regarding her divorce, she said, “Everything I wanted to say about the divorce I said in that article. Marc and I agreed we weren’t going to talk about it publicly again. it really is our personal life. We have children. It’s something we have to respect and keep sacred. At the end of the day we’re working together. We have a lot of love for each other. We’re human and it’s not the easiest thing in the world but we handled it with grace and caring. and a lot of love.”
