Woman files for divorce after husband cooks
Woman files for divorce after husband cooks. Amy Taylor, aged 28, from Cornwall, is filing for divorce after discovering her husband was having a sordid virtual affair in the online game Second Life.
Amy also plays Second Life, under the name Laura Skye. She said that her husband's virtual affair was as real as any actual affair with, you know, actual people: "It may have started online, but it existed entirely in the real world and it hurts just as much. His was the ultimate betrayal. He had been lying to me."Amy had in fact met her husband, David Pollard, in an online chat room. Their relationship grew over Second Life, and the couple married two years later, in 2005. They married virtually, too, with Laura Skye tying the knot with Dave Barmy, Pollard's online avatar.
Laura Skye weighs 112 lb and is 6 feet tall, while the real life Amy Taylor is 5 foot 4, and weighs a slightly podgier 224 lb.
This wasn't the first time she caught her husband cyber-cheating - soon after their marriage, she once found him virtually having sex with a virtual prostitute.
"I looked at the computer screen and could see his character having sex with a female character," said Amy. "It's cheating as far as I'm concerned."
In retaliation, Amy ended Laura Skye and Dave Barmy's virtual relationship (that'll show him!) but stuck with David Pollard in real life. She even went as far as to hire a virtual private investigator named Markie Macdonald, who tried to lure David's virtual avatar into virtual bed. But he didn't succumb to the temptation.
This April, though, David Pollard did give in, and got virtually-freaky with a hot virtual chick called Modesty McDonnell. But Amy knew all about it: "I caught him cuddling a woman on a sofa in the game. It looked really affectionate."
When she asked to see his chat log, he turned off the computer to erase any evidence of his interaction. "I ended up going off to his mum and dad's in floods of tears," said Amy.
David Pollard thinks that Amy was just being a paranoid bitch: "We weren't even having cyber-sex or anything like that. We were just chatting and hanging out together." And another thing: "Amy never did anything around the house. She just played World of Warcraft all the time."
Now that the pair have formally separated, Amy's with some dude she met on World of Warcraft. Let's hope he doesn't run off with some Warlock. And as for David, he's now with the woman behind the Modesty McDonnell avatar. You can't make this shizzle up. She's 55, by the way. From Arkansas.
"When we first met," said Modesty, "it was at a fancy-dress night on the game, and he noticed me across the room and said he felt something special."
Now Dave Barmy and Modesty McDonnell, like any sane couple, are virtually married. They can't afford to visit each other, but they talk on the phone every day. Well, good luck with that.
