Current Mayor Carlos Alvarez faces  a recall election  on March 15. If voters recall Alvarez, Miami-Dade commissioners  must decide whether to appoint someone to serve out Alvarez's term or  hold a special election.
Campbell said if there's a special  election, he will run for mayor.  If the commission chooses to appoint a  mayor to serve out Alvarez's term, he said he will run in the general  election in November 2012.Campbell said his platform is about problems such as unemployment, racism and killings in Liberty City."When  you look at crime, the same crime that's occurring in my neighborhood  where I grew up, that's been occurring since I was a kid. I'm born and  raised in Miami, Fla.," Campbell said. "When I come back home, I don't  see the improvements, and it's because of the politics of this town.  Nobody wants to see little kids getting killed. At the same time, nobody  wants to see officers getting killed, as well."
