Javier Bardem as Bond

Javier Bardem might be a new daddy, but the folks behind the Jame Bond movie franchise are banking on the notion that fatherhood hasn’t softened him any when it comes to playing deliciously devilish baddies.

Deadline New York reports that the studio has offered the Biutiful actor a starring role in the upcoming 23rd James Bond movie, which recently received a release date of November 9, 2012. While details about the role are scant, traditionally the biggest casting news behind any Bond movie aside from the titular, super-suave spy, of course is who will play the villain.

The offer was reportedly made to Bardem last week, by EON Productions principals Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli last week. The No Country for No Men actor was also recently offered the lead role of gunslinger Roland Deschain in the upcoming film adaptation of Stephen King‘s novel series The Dark Tower, which will be directed by Ron Howard.
