Spanish actors Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem are the parents of a son who, according to the magazine Hola!, was born last weekend in Los Angeles, where the families of both actors gathered.
The Spanish magazine, which devoted its cover and an exclusive report to the couple and their family, said Cruz had given birth to the child in the Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Beverly Hills.
Neither the family nor its representatives have confirmed anything so far.
"Have the parents said anything?" asked the mother of the actor, Pilar Bardem, of the Efe reporter who interviewed her by telephone about the alleged news. And upon learning that, officially, the report had not been confirmed, she added laughing: "Well, then, I can't tell you anything."
Also responding in a good-naturedly evasive way to Efe was Cruz's publicist, Amanda Silverman. She said that she was very sorry, but she was also firm: "I don't have any information."
In addition, the public relations agency in Spain, Kuranda, said it would not comment until authorized to do so by the alleged parents.
Hola! on Wednesday printed several statements by Bardem in which he said that he does not want his wife and he to become the new Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. "We value our privacy. For us, it's difficult to appear in public, even though we're both used to being the subjects of much attention in Spain ... but it's OK. We have a good life."
U.S. entertainment and gossip media still have not been able to gather any more specific information about the matter.
