Xbox 360 sales pass 57million, Xbox 360 sales pass 57 million worldwide. Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox 360 has sold more than 57 million units worldwide.

Major Nelson announced via Twitter that the console has surpassed the figure following a successful fiscal quarter.

The platform holder previously revealed that the Xbox 360 shifted more than 2.3 million units during the last quarter, and was the "best-selling" console during the last nine months.

Sony recently reported that it has moved 55.5 million PlayStation 3s during the platform's lifecycle, putting the Microsoft machine ahead by 1.5 million units. However, it should be noted that the Xbox 360 has been on the market for a year longer.

Nintendo's Wii has sold significantly more units than its competitors, with 89 million consoles shifted worldwide. The platform launched around the same period as the PS3.

Nintendo will be the first of the big three to release a new home console next year when it launches the Wii U.
