New York building collapse injures a dozen, An explosion inside a building in New York's Chinatown on Thursday led to a fire and a partial collapse of the structure, injuring a dozen people, including firefighters.

A five-storey brick building, which housed a bus company and other businesses on the first level and apartments above, has collapsed after a fire took hold on Thursday afternoon.


An explosion shattered windows on the first three floors and the fire caused three floors to collapse.

Firefighters had the blaze under control within an hour but three people were taken to hospital in a serious condition.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
