Riderless horse wins race

Riderless horse wins race
Riderless horse wins race, A defiant racehorse threw off the shackles of her diminutive jockey and ran like lightening to take first place in the sixth race at Belmont yesterday.

Strictly speaking, Downtown Hottie didn't win, as, under the official rules, riderless horses are listed as having not finished the race.

But the mare certainly trumped the other horses as far as any of the spectators were concerned, and proved that a strong, independent filly was better off unburdened by the constant whipping of a little man upon her back.

The amusing spectacle was captured on video by the racecourse.

In the footage, the horse, number 2, immediately throws off her jockey, or, rather, he falls off of his own accord, as soon as they get out of the gates.

He is alright, though some suggested he'd struggle to get another gig after such a poor display of jockeying skills.

But once free of The Man, who has been exploiting her labor for his own glory all these years, she galloped, liberated, like the wind.

The commentator keeps the crowd updated on the riderless horse's progress as she moves from the back of the pack slowly but surely to the front.

Free to make her own decisions and choose which way to turn, she powers to the lead.

Finally, she finishes almost a full length in front of her nearest competitor, 'Wholelottashakin' who, according to the leaderboard, won with a final time of 1:35.58.

While Downtown Hottie doesn't get the recognition she deserves, the filly proved beyond any doubt what she's capable of, without the burden of a short man ordering her about.

She serves as an inspiration to all of us.
