Pamela Anderson posing in a bikini is nothing new — the Dancing With The Stars alum has been making a living in skimpy outfits for over two decades. But according to officials in the United Kingdom, a recent Pam Anderson ad has gone too far…and has been banned as a result.
CrazyDomains might be a simple web hosting service, but now, the company is attracting controversy for its use of a decidedly raunchy advertisement starring Pamela Anderson. In this ad, Pam and her assistant are surrounded by several men in a boardroom. One of the guys starts fantasizing that the two women are decked out in gold bikinis and covered in whipped cream.
Perhaps more controversial than the ad itself is the decision to ban it in the United Kingdom. Following an effort launched by the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), viewers no longer can catch the ad on television. Initially, the commercial had been limited to late-night programming, based on vetting company Clearcast’s argument that Pam and her assistant were portrayed as ““attractive, dynamic and confident business people.”
Obviously, the ASA does not agree with this assessment. As one spokesperson explained, the ad has the potential to “cause serious offence to some viewers on the basis that it was sexist and degrading to women.” Read more
