LeAnn Rimes' new album Spitfire features a song she wrote with her ex-husband.
The singer's marriage to dancer Dean Sheremet exploded after her affair with actor Eddie Cibrian hit the headlines in 2009, resulting in the couple's split.
But Rimes, who is now married to Cibrian, returned to happier times with her ex as she picked out the songs she wanted to include on her new release, and dusted off God Takes Care of Your Kind.
She says, "I did write a song with my ex-husband - that was, like, seven and a half years ago... It just kind of fit the story of the record.
"It was actually supposed to be on a different record before and we pulled it off and then it just worked for this record. I didn't have to, like, approve it or anything. I think he approves."
Rimes tells Chelsea Lately host Chelsea Handler that she's not in regular contact with Sheremet, but admits, "We have talked. It's fine."
Rimes' 11th album also features the song Borrowed, in which she opens up about her affair with Cibrian.
She tells US news show Extra, "I was writing feelings that I didn't even know I felt until I wrote them in the song... Those were hours of crying in a corner and like, I can't say this, and then... once that door opened up to just pure, raw honesty."
