Early modeling photos of the famous

Early modeling photos of the famous, Stars have to start somewhere. And for some, that place is the runway or on magazine covers. Some celebrities modeled at a young age to get through college, while others have stayed in the industry. Here is a list of some famous people who modeled early in their careers — along with the pics to prove it.

Anderson Cooper
Journalist Anderson Cooper decided at the tender age of 10 that he should start making and saving money. He landed his first modeling job at Ford Models, where he earned $75 an hour. He modeled for Ralph Lauren, Macy's and this famous brand known for its underwear.

Cameron Diaz
Cameron Diaz started her modeling career at 16 and traveled the world on modeling assignments for Calvin Klein and Levi's. At 17, she was featured on the cover of the July 1990 issue of Seventeen magazine. A few years later, the model-turned-actress landed her first movie role in "The Mask."

Cindy Crawford
Cindy Crawford helped define fashion in the '80s and early '90s as one of the first so-called supermodels to hit the runways. She was also featured on magazine covers, and her signature mole above her lip was at first rejected by the fashion industry and often removed from her earlier modeling photos.

Geena Davis
One of MENSA member Geena Davis' first modeling gigs did not require much thought. She worked as a window mannequin for Ann Taylor until signing with New York's Zoli modeling agency in 1979. She landed a spot in the Victoria's Secret catalog before moving onto acting and landing roles in movies including "Beetlejuice" and "Thelma & Louise".

Jennifer Connelly
Jennifer Connelly rocked an '80s side ponytail and slouchy clothes during her stint as a child model. She started modeling when she was 10 and landed a few Seventeen covers before she moved to film.

Before creating "America's Next Top Model," which has generated an army of commercial and professional models, Tyra Banks had a modeling career of her own. At 15 she broke out of what she called her ugly duckling period and signed with an agency. She started working the runway in Paris and appeared on the covers of Vogue and Elle. She was also the first black woman to be featured on the covers of GQ and Sports Illustrated.

Victoria Beckham
