8-Year-Old Caught On Video Stealing Packages [VIDEO], An 8-year-old girl in Clermont, Fla., west of Orlando, was allegedly filmed by her neighbors stealing packages from their doorsteps. Local news stations blurred her face because she is a minor and has not been charged with a crime.
Neighbors in a central Florida suburb set up a video sting to nab an 8-year-old girl they say has been stealing holiday packages from their stoops.
People in three different homes on the same block in Clermont complained about vanished packages containing thousands of dollars in holiday loot and other items, according to local reports.
Tiffany Baggs and Tim Lebeda, who live across the street in the neighborhood 30 minutes west of Orlando, suspected a holiday bandit, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
Last week, they set up a hidden camera and dummy boxes to trap the gift-nabbing Grinch.
"Everybody thought (it was a) teenager, because of the timeframe of when these were being stolen, around the bus stop," neighbor Jessica Araujo, who runs a business out of her home and also had items stolen, told Central Florida News 13.
Turns out, it appears to be a little girl who lives a few doors down, the neighbors say.
The tyke was caught on camera sneaking up to Baggs' home, inspecting the packages and then scampering away with a box nearly as big as she was, according to video broadcast on local news sites.
Cops questioned the girl and her mother, and the elf-sized heister eventually copped to stealing one package on a dare, the Sentinel reported.
The girl hasn't been charged with anything. She and her family were not identified.
Neighbors are fuming.
"We want something done, in the form of the parents stepping up to the plate, taking accountability and saying, 'We're sorry this happened to you and the other neighbors,' maybe even having the child come over and apologize," Araujo told Central Florida News.
Local cops have referred the matter to the state's attorney's office of juvenile affairs, the station said.
