It wasn't clear whether the redhead had dyed her long hair or she had donned a wig for the biopic Liz and Dick - her first leading lady part since the rather abysmal 2009 flop Labor Pains.
On set Lindsay is seen fully made-up as the star but in her own clothes during a break in filming, clutching a cigarette, she looked deep in thought.
Speaking of her role, Lindsay revealed in a statement: 'I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor. She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well.
'I am very honoured to have been asked to play this role.'
