The latest celebrity to confess to having the procedure is none other than Jason Donovan.
The 43-year-old owned up to the fact after he was grilled extensively by Piers Morgan during an interview, and said 'he'd done a Rooney'.
The former Neighbours star was under pressure when being filmed for Piers Morgan's Life Stories and told the studio audience on Saturday night about his treatment.
'It’s something I did for just for myself and haven’t ever felt the need to publicise it.'
The father-of-three did not comment further on his hair transplant surgery, but it was already visibly thicker when he appeared on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, last year.
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney famously spoke out, last year, about his desire to have more hair.
He said at the time: 'Just to confirm to all my followers I have had a hair transplant. I was going bald at 25, why not? I'm delighted with the result.'
Rooney had a follicular transfer in which hairs are moved from donor areas – usually at the back of the head – and then replanted in bald areas.
Actor James Nesbitt has also had the same treatment as did former Dancing On Ice judge Jason Gardiner.
Donovan is set to headline a concert with his old flame, Kylie Minogue, in London's Hyde Park on 11 July.
The two singers dated during their time on Neighbours, when they played an onscreen couple.
While Kylie, 43, has continued to reinvent herself since her TV drama role, Jason relocated to the UK and forged a career as a stage actor and radio DJ.
