Mother tried to sell her 8-month old baby for $7,000 in 'a sign of the times'

A mother has been arrested after trying to sell her eight month old son for $7,000.

Kenia Quiala Bosque, 30, arranged to meet a prospective buyer in Miami to hand over her newborn son.

Police were tipped off about the sale and an undercover officer went to the meeting posing as the buyer leading to her arrest, authorities told NBC Miami.

Bosque failed to show up for the transaction but police said they had enough evidence to arrest her on baby selling charges.

Bosque was arrested at her home in Opa-Locka, near Miami, Florida and two other children found in the home were taken into care.

The situation was described as 'a sign of the times,' according to Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle to NBC on why the mother may have wanted to sell her child.

According to a police spokesman they received information on Saturday that Bosque was attempting to sell her child.

She had made contact with a man from Monroe County with a price of $7,000 discussed for the sale.

Officers with Monroe County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement then went to her home as they feared for the baby’s safety

'We are just so glad we were able to obtain this information in time to intervene before anything could happen to endanger this child,' Monroe County Sheriff Bob Peryam told NBC. Kenia Quiala Bosque, Mom sell baby $7,000,

She has been charged with adoption violation and is being held in Miami-Dade jail on a $5,000 bond.

According to court records Bosque was arrested for armed burglary and theft in November 2010 when she was accused of stealing copper wire in the Florida Keys.
