Meth Found In Potato Chip Bags At Airport

A Southern California man who was caught trying to smuggle methamphetamine stuffed inside potato chip bags through airport security has been charged.

Authorities said Friday that 21-year-old Lemuel Espinosa of Compton is charged with possession of a controlled substance with an intent to distribute it.

Homeland Security officials estimate the meth had a street value of more than $200,000 in Japan.

Espinosa was charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance. He is being held without bond pending an Oct. 3 arraignment.
