Nickelback most hated funny or die, Nickelback tackles 'most hated' rep on FunnyorDie.com. They may have sold nearly 50 million records, be multiple Juno-winners, play packed concerts and release songs that become ubiquitous on radio, but Canadian rockers Nickelback can't get no respect.
Ahead of this week's release of the band's newest album, Here And Now, Nickelback detractors have been out in force.
While thousands of Detroit fans are petitioning for the rockers to be withdrawn from the halftime show at Thursday's Detroit Lions-Green Bay Packers game, Aux.tv has designed a browser plugin for those hankering to block all reference to the Alberta-formed, B.C.-based quartet.
Now, Nickelback is answering its haters with a bit of self-mockery -- in the form of a new profanity-laden spoof video on comedy website Funny or Die (Warning: explicit language).
The Funny or Die skit shows an image-improvement specialist trying to get to the bottom of why so many people hate Nickelback and find ways to make over band members Chad Kroeger, Ryan Peake, Mike Kroeger and Daniel Adair so they have some appeal in Detroit.
The approximately two-and-a-half minute video shows that the Nickelback boys can poke a little fun at themselves -- and their detractors. And while we're watching happens in Detroit on U.S. Thanksgiving, perhaps the rockers will receive a warmer reception for their halftime performance at Sunday's Grey Cup in their adopted hometown of Vancouver.
