New Q cast James Bond, The new 'Q' of James Bond revealed. Ending months of speculation over whether or not old man Q would return to the James Bond movies it has now been announced that there's a new cool kid on the block. After all, being geeky is considered quite 'cool' these days. And sometimes it's pretty hot too! So it's not surprising that the makers of James Bond the 23rd, Skyfall, should seek a more fitting actor to take the role, which they have found in Ben Whishaw. Don't get me wrong, the other Q actors like John Cleese and Desmond Llewelyn were fantastic in their own right but it's nice to see a fresh young (and handsome) face fill their shoes. At 31, rising star Whishaw will be the youngest actor to play the gadget Master. Q has not appeared in a James Bond flick since Die Another Day back in 2002.
While Q served as the brains behind Bond's cool gadgets, it seems Whishaw might also stand as a rival in the dreamboat department next to 007 star Daniel Craig who is 12 years his senior. As per The Sun, a source said: "Female fans will have more than Daniel to gush over now Ben's been cast as Q. He'll be a big draw... It's a bold decision as it means Q will be younger than Bond for the first time... His role will be very different from previous Qs. He'll be far more serious, as is the trend with the new films."
