Usually it’s a good thing when a hotel wins a Top 10 award. Not this one. TripAdvisor just released their annual list of the Top 10 Dirtiest Hotels In America, and some of the customer comments read more like crime scene descriptions than hotel reviews.
We’re talking about hotels so foul and unhygienic that even rats choose not to stay there. These are hotels where the carpets are filthy, the walls are peeling, the smell of smoke permeates the halls, and the CDC refuses to go inside without wearing a contamination suit. And while it’s not a guarantee, it’s safe to assume that at least one hooker was murdered on the premises.
Here’s the list of hotels that received the TripAdvisor kiss of death and will inevitably wind up being demolished and turned into a land fill:

#9. Palm Grove Hotel And Suites – Virginia Beach, Virginia
#8. Super 8 Estes Park – Estes Park, Colorado
#7. Rodeway Inn – Williamsville, New York
#6. Atlantic Beach Hotel – Miami Beach, Florida
#5. Polynesian Beach & Golf Resort – Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
#4. Hotel Carter – New York City, New York
#3. Desert Inn Resort – Daytona Beach, Florida
#2. Jack London Inn – Oakland, California
#1. Grand Resort Hotel & Convention Center – Pigeon Forge, Tennessee
Fitting that a hotel with “Grand” in the name would be called out in grand fashion — go big or go home, right? Out of 224 reviews on TripAdvisor, 72% described their stay at the Grand Resort Hotel as “terrible” and 87% recommended against staying there.
Which begs the question: who is part of the 13% that actually recommend this place and what are their standards of living? Because the reviews list everything from bed bugs to mold to concerning stains (blood? seminal fluid? mixture of both?).
Someone should create a reality TV show where 10 people are locked into each hotel and the last one to NOT get a staph infection wins.
