All-purpose entertainer Sammy Davis Jr. died in 1990 of throat cancer after years of smoking about four packs daily. Davis was buried in California, but financial complications with his estate, including millions owed in back taxes, led to his wife demanding the body be exhumed.
She proceeded to remove $70,000 worth of jewelry from Davis’s body before it was reburied.
